Prince Fahad bin Jalawi Crowns Australia 2025 FIBA Asia Cup Champions in Jeddah

Jeddah: Vice President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee (SOPC) Prince Fahad bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed crowned the Australian national basketball team champions of the 31st edition of the FIBA Asia Cup 2025, following their 90-89 victory over China in the final match held at King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the ceremony was attended by President of International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Sheikh Saud Al Thani, President of the FIBA Asia Dr. Govindaraj, and President of the Saudi Basketball Federation Dr. Ghassan Tashkandi.

This marks the second time for the Kingdom to host the tournament, following its first in 1997. The successful organization reinforced Saudi Arabia's status as a major sporting destination, with a strong public turnout and a highly competitive atmosphere that reflected the success of this major continental championship.

This victory marks Australia's third championship since officially joining the Asian tournament, following their titles in Lebanon (2017) and Jakarta (2022), adding another achievement on Saudi soil.
