Riyadh: Minister of Sport and President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee (SOPC) Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal chaired the eighth meeting of the committee board for 2024 remotely on Wednesday. Vice President of the Committee Prince Fahad bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz and Chief Executive Officer and Secretary General Abdulaziz Baashen, along with other board members, attended the meeting. According to Saudi Press Agency, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki commended the generous support provided by the leadership to the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic sector and to the sports field in general. This support has contributed to the development of the sports sector and to the nation's recent and future hosting of major international sports events, including the upcoming Olympic Esports Games in Riyadh in 2025. The meeting also covered updates on the SOPC's new strategy and operational model for 2025-2032, which includes various executive initiatives and projects aimed at improving the efficiency of sports fe derations and empowering Saudi athletes on their path to excellence. Additionally, the board approved the committee's budget for 2025, as well as the administrative regulations for human resources and the committee's report for the third quarter of 2024. Participants also discussed the progress of the electoral process for the sports federations for the period 2024-2028. This meeting represents a part of the ongoing efforts to develop and enhance the work of the SOPC, contributing toward achieving excellence in the Saudi sports sector.
