President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met today with the Prime Minister, the ministers of water resources and irrigation, supply and internal trade, planning and economic development, finance, agriculture and land reclamation, and trade and industry, the Director of the National Service Projects Organization (NSPO), and the Chairman of the Agricultural Research Center.
The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that, during the meeting, the strategic plan designed for boosting agricultural production across Egypt was presented.
President El-Sisi called for optimizing the privileges Egypt’s agricultural sector enjoys to achieve a return. He stressed the importance of developing national programs to provide the best solutions to challenges facing the agricultural sector and to link agricultural production with related industries.
The Minister of Agriculture presented the mechanisms and axes of implementing the strategic plan of agricultural crops that is designed to improve the basic elements of sustainable agriculture. Thereby, food security would be achieved through maximizing agricultural production and industrialization, reducing the percentage of wasted elements, as well as using the latest agricultural methods and programs.
The agricultural situation in Egypt, including agricultural exports and crops distribution nationwide, has been discussed. Moreover, the main challenges facing the agricultural sector in Egypt, which are represented in the limited agricultural area, the increasing population growth and the need to provide additional water resources, also have been presented.
The Spokesman added that the efforts made by the Ministry of Agriculture in developing the system of agricultural services, marketing and agricultural extension programs services for farmers, through the use of technological means and information channels, were presented. Furthermore, the joint efforts between the ministries of irrigation and agriculture regarding the axes of organizing and modernizing the field irrigation system were discussed.
