PM chairs meeting on railway project in Giza

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli chaired on Wednesday August 7, 2019 a meeting to discuss a rail project in Giza’s Bashtil city.

The meeting was attended by Transport Minister Kamel el Wazir, Housing Minister Asem el Gazzar and Giza Governor Ahmed Rashed.

The project aims at achieving sustainable development through passenger transport hubs, which act as a backbone of the Egyptian public transport sector, Wazir said.

The city of Bashtil was chosen for the project due to its proximity to Cairo’s main railway station in Ramsis and its unique location as a gate to Upper Egypt, he added.

The project will also help link different means of transport and relieve pressure on the main train stations in Cairo and Giza, he noted.

The minister also revealed plans to establish a new urban community and railway workshops in the vicinity of the project.
