Patriarch Al-Rahi Engages in Discussions with El-Khazen on Lebanon’s Political Developments

Bkirki: Maronite Patriarch, Cardinal Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi, met with the Head of the Maronite General Council, Wadih El-Khazen, to discuss the current political and domestic developments in Lebanon. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, El-Khazen expressed his solidarity with the people of Tripoli following the recent tragic building collapses. He offered condolences to the families of the victims and wished a swift recovery to those injured. During the meeting, El-Khazen reiterated Patriarch Al-Rahi's call for adherence to the constitution, preservation of legitimacy, and fostering genuine national partnership in Lebanon. El-Khazen emphasized the importance of conducting the upcoming parliamentary elections on schedule, stressing that adherence to constitutional deadlines is crucial for renewing political life and restoring public trust. He remarked on the necessity for heightened political responsibility and dialogue among national factions, urging that constitutional deadlines remain free from narrow political disputes. The discussions also focused on the need to bolster internal unity, enhance the functioning of state institutions, and support the army and security forces to maintain stability in the nation. El-Khazen highlighted the urgency of implementing financial and economic reforms to guide Lebanon towards recovery and reestablish connections with Arab and international communities.
