Makkah: The Grand Mosque in Makkah experienced a remarkable gathering of worshippers and Umrah performers on the 29th night of Ramadan, marking the significant event of the Quran recitation completion.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the General Presidency for the Care of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque reported a total of 4,117,669 visitors. This figure included 3,471,205 worshippers and 646,464 Umrah performers, highlighting the immense turnout for this spiritual occasion.
Operational statistics revealed the extensive services provided during this period. A total of 28,202 visitors utilized trolleys for assistance, while 135,670 individuals received guidance and support from the workers. The workforce comprised 13,260 personnel dedicated to ensuring a smooth experience for all attendees.
In addition to these services, 42,000 bottles of Zamzam water were distributed among the visitors. Furthermore, 702,488 iftar meals were served, demonstrating the scale of hospitality offered at the Grand Mosque. To maintain cleanliness and hygiene, 270 tons of waste were efficiently removed.
To manage the large influx of visitors, the presidency employed advanced technology, incorporating reader sensors at the main entrances. This initiative, in collaboration with relevant authorities, aimed to enhance crowd management and operational efficiency during this significant event.
