Over 53 Million Visit Two Holy Mosques During Rabi’ al-Awwal 1447 AH


Mecca: The General Authority for the Care of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque announced yesterday that the number of Umrah performers and visitors to the Two Holy Mosques during the month of Rabi’ al-Awwal 1447 AH reached 53,572,983.



According to Saudi Press Agency, at the Grand Mosque, the number of visitors totaled 17,560,004, including 91,753 who prayed at Hijr Ismail (Al-Hateem). The number of Umrah performers reached 12,146,516, marking a significant influx of worshippers during this holy month.



The authority also reported substantial attendance at the Prophet’s Mosque, which received 20,701,560 visitors. Of these, 1,002,049 prayed in Al-Rawdah Al-Sharifah, while 2,071,101 offered greetings to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and his two Companions, underscoring the spiritual significance of these sites.



The authority noted its use of advanced technology, including sensor readers at the main entrances of both mosques, to monitor the number of visitors and pilgrims. This system enhances operational efficiency by tracking crowd flows and supporting authorities in managing them, as part of its partnership with relevant entities.
