Qassim region: The Qassim Region, known for its fertile soil, fresh water, and palm-friendly climate, is home to over 11 million palm trees of various types. These palm trees are classified as desert plants capable of enduring the Arabian Peninsula's extreme summer heat and winter cold.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the complementary climatic and agricultural conditions in the Qassim Region have contributed to a significant expansion in palm tree cultivation. This expansion is driven by increasing local demand and growing nutritional awareness among consumers.
Date farmer Abdulaziz Al-Baridi highlighted the support that farmers in the region receive from the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture branch in Qassim. This support includes educating farmers about irrigation methods and palm pest control, as well as preparing markets for the sale and trade of dates.
