Jeddah: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) General Secretariat has expressed its approval of a report by the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory. The report affirms that the Israeli occupation forces have committed genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. The OIC has called on the international community to take immediate measures to halt the genocide and ensure accountability for those responsible.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the OIC condemned the increasing crimes by the Israeli occupation forces, which include the ground invasion of Gaza City, along with ongoing policies of starvation, abuse, destruction, and forced displacement. The OIC characterized these actions as a continuation of genocide, cautioning against the severe humanitarian consequences that may arise from the ongoing practices in the occupied Palestinian territory.
The OIC reiterated its appeal to the UN Security Council for decisive action to enforce an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire. The organization also urged for an end to the Israeli blockade and starvation policies, the assurance of humanitarian aid delivery throughout the strip, the prevention of genocide, and the implementation of interim measures mandated by the UN International Court of Justice in 2024.
