OIC Secretary General, Denmark Foreign Minister Discuss Burning, Desecrating Copies of Holy Quran

 

Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha has met with Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen who told him that his country proposed a law criminalizing the desecration of holy books

 

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

 

Taha renewed the OIC’s position on acts like burning and desecration of copies of the Holy Quran, as stipulated in the decision of the 18th extraordinary session of the OIC council of foreign ministers, and said the organization calls on concerned countries to take measures to prevent the recurrence of such behavior.

 

He also praised the step taken by Denmark in this regard.
