OIC-IPHRC Stresses Role of Tolerance in Societal Development

Jeddah: On the occasion of the International Day for Tolerance 2025, the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC-IPHRC) highlighted the necessity of promoting tolerance, mutual respect, and interfaith dialogue to build cohesive societies. The commission emphasized that Islamic principles are grounded in justice, equality, and the preservation of human dignity, which align with international frameworks such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Vienna Declaration.



According to Saudi Press Agency, the commission, which represents 57 member states, reaffirmed its dedication to supporting dialogue among civilizations and religions in accordance with the OIC Charter and the Cairo Declaration. It pointed out that cultural and religious diversity should be utilized as a strength to enhance understanding and peaceful coexistence, especially in the face of rising global hate speech.



The commission also called on media institutions and digital platforms to promote a culture of moderation, raise community awareness, and counter incitement and polarization. It highlighted the importance of involving women and youth in initiatives to foster harmony and build sustainable social peace.
