OIC Denounces Israeli Knesset’s Move to Ban UNRWA

General

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemned the Israeli Knesset's vote on a bill that would ban UNRWA's operations in occupied East Jerusalem and revoke its privileges and immunities. This move, a blatant violation of international law and UN resolutions, is part of Israel's ongoing efforts to liquidate the Palestinian refugee issue and deny them their right to return. OIC warned of the severe consequences of such measure on UNRWA's ability to provide essential services to Palestinian refugees. It emphasized that Israel's continued targeting of UNRWA facilities, staff, and displaced persons will not undermine the agency's international mandate, which is based on UN General Assembly resolutions. OIC called on the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to fulfill its responsibility and protect UNRWA, and ensure that it continues to provide vital services to millions of Palestinian refugees. It also urged the international community to support a just and agreed-upo n solution to the Palestinian refugee issue, in accordance with relevant UN resolutions. Source: Saudi Press Agency
