OIC Body Condemns Israeli Attacks on Palestinians, Rejects Aggression against Islamic Countries

Nouakchott: The 55th meeting of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) Executive Committee concluded in Mauritania's capital with the issuance of the 'Nouakchott Declaration,' which reaffirmed the unity of the Muslim world by stressing the importance of adhering to the values of solidarity and justice as the best means to address current regional and international challenges, according to the Mauritanian News Agency.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the declaration placed the Palestinian cause at the top of its priorities, condemning ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza, the occupied West Bank, and east Jerusalem as blatant violations of international law. It called on the international community to fulfill its responsibilities, press for a halt to settlement expansion and forced displacement, and support the Palestinian people in establishing an independent state with east Jerusalem as its capital.

Participants also welcomed the recognition of the State of Palestine by the majority of the world's nations, including four of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council, describing it as a political milestone that strengthens the legitimacy of the Palestinian cause on the international stage.

The declaration further rejected any external aggression against Islamic countries, emphasized respect for international law, and warned against double standards that threaten global peace and undermine public trust in the international system.
