OIC and China Sign MoU on Scholarship Programme

Jeddah: The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) hosted a signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. The event took place at the OIC headquarters in Jeddah on Monday, June 16, 2025.

According to Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, the MoU was signed by His Excellency Ambassador Aftab Ahmad Khokher, Assistant Secretary General for Science and Technology, representing the OIC. His Excellency Ambassador Chang Hua, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Representative of China to the OIC, signed on behalf of the Chinese Government.

During the ceremony, Ambassador Khokher highlighted the strategic partnership between the OIC and the People's Republic of China. He noted that this relationship is based on mutual respect, shared development goals, and a commitment to South-South cooperation. Ambassador Khokher emphasized the importance of scholarships and academic exchange programmes in developing human capital, enhancing mutual understanding, and promoting intercultural dialogue. These elements are crucial for achieving long-term peace and sustainable development.
