Northern Borders Chamber of Commerce Hosts Handicrafts Workshop for Women

Riyadh: The Northern Borders Chamber of Commerce recently organized a specialized training workshop focused on handicrafts for female artisans. This initiative aligns with the Kingdom's announcement that 2025 will be celebrated as the Year of Handicrafts.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the three-day workshop aims to equip participants with the essential skills of handweaving, covering everything from the preparation of wool to the utilization of various tools and the creation of artistic pieces. The workshop also seeks to integrate traditional crafts with modern materials such as fabric, leather, and wood to cater to contemporary market needs.

The Northern Borders Region is renowned for its wide array of traditional handicrafts, which include sadu weaving, spinning, and tent-making. This diversity offers an excellent backdrop for developing the handicraft sector, particularly as an increasing number of women engage in these crafts as a source of economic empowerment.
