The National Center for Meteorology (NCM) said it has activated weather radars in Madinah to align with the center's operational plans to expand geographical coverage, improve data accuracy, and enhance readiness. The move also reflects NCM's commitment to advancing meteorological technologies in the region and strengthening the center's role in serving the community. The Madinah radars boast advanced technological specifications that meet international standards. They cover a 300-kilometer radius, enabling specialists to monitor the real-time movement of thunderclouds, determine their direction and speed, and estimate expected amounts of rainfall. The weather radars in Madinah contribute to issuing highly precise early warnings. They also support aviation and maritime navigation operations by providing accurate critical data.
