General

Riyadh: The National Center for Meteorology has stressed the importance of relying solely on official sources for weather and climate updates at the holy sites during the upcoming Hajj season to ensure the safety and well-being of pilgrims.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the directive was issued during a coordination workshop held with representatives from various government media and awareness agencies involved in serving pilgrims, as part of the center's ongoing preparations for the 1446 AH Hajj season.

General Supervisor of Hajj and Umrah Operations at the center Dr. Turki bin Habibullah highlighted the need for early coordination, unification of media messaging, and the exclusive dissemination of weather-related information through authorized channels. This approach, he said, reflects the aspirations of the Kingdom's leadership to provide a globally exemplary model of media awareness that serves and reassures pilgrims.

Dr. Habibullah also emphasized the importance of enhancing preparedness and ensuring seamless integration among media and awareness teams in conveying accurate weather and climate information, in line with the directives of the Supreme Hajj Committee.
