Najran: Governor of Najran Region Prince Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed received certificates today at his office confirming the listing of the Uruq Bani Ma'arid Protected Area on the Green List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and its inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List, after meeting the approved criteria and requirements. The meeting was attended by CEO of the National Center for Wildlife Dr. Mohammed Qurban and a number of center officials.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Prince Jalawi commended the efforts of the National Center for Wildlife in achieving the registration of the Uruq Bani Ma'arid Protected Area on both lists, describing it as a national achievement that reflects the progress made by the Kingdom in environmental protection. He noted that this accomplishment embodies the Kingdom's commitment to applying international standards in the management of natural resources, supporting the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, and enhancing the Kingdom's standing in global environmental indicators.
During the meeting, the governor was briefed on the center's efforts to develop wildlife in Najran Region, contribute to ecosystem sustainability, protect wildlife species, and raise the efficiency of protected area management across the Kingdom.
