London: The Muslim World League (MWL) welcomed the decision by the government of the United Kingdom to ban the import of goods from illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories and impose restrictions on services linked to these settlements.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the league also welcomed the statement on the two-state solution issued by the foreign ministers of Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.
In a statement, MWL Secretary-General and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa commended this important and responsible position in support of the Palestinian people's historical and legal right. He called on the international community to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities to immediately stop all violations by the Israeli government and take effective and concrete measures against its attempts to impose a new demographic or geographic reality in the occupied Palestinian territories, including illegal settlement activity.
He praised the broad support for the statement issued in this regard by the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, Qatar, and Egypt, and their steadfast solidarity with the Palestinian people and firm support for their legitimate rights, foremost among them the right to establish their own state in accordance with the two-state solution and relevant international resolutions, as the only way to achieve a just and lasting peace in the region.
