Riyadh: The Muslim World League (MWL) has strongly condemned recent remarks by Benjamin Netanyahu suggesting the displacement of people from the Gaza Strip.
According to Saudi Press Agency, MWL Secretary General and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa denounced these remarks as a violation of international law, state sovereignty, and the Palestinian people's right to an independent state.
On behalf of Muslim scholars and communities worldwide, Al-Issa commended the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its recent statements, issued on February 5 and 9, reaffirming its support for a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. He praised Saudi Arabia's call for an end to the Israeli occupation and its urging of peace-loving nations to recognize the State of Palestine until it gains full UN membership.
Al-Issa acknowledged Saudi Arabia's efforts and historical summits in support of the Palestinian cause, condemning the violence in Gaza, and mobilizing international support for Palestinian self-determination and the establishment of an independent state on its occupied lands.
