New York:The Assistant to the Secretary-General for Communication and International Cooperation of the Muslim World League (MWL), Abdulwahab bin Mohammed Al-Shehri, represented the organization at the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) Group of Friends annual high-level meeting. This participation was on behalf of the MWL Secretary-General and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa. According to Saudi Press Agency, the meeting saw the attendance of the alliance's High Representative and several foreign ministers and diplomats from the Group of Friends, alongside representatives from various international and religious organizations. In his speech, Al-Shehri discussed the MWL's stance on numerous critical issues, with a focus on the Palestinian cause. He emphasized transitioning dialogue into actionable steps and forming effective partnerships, while also highlighting the MWL's initiatives in education, interfaith dialogue, and peace promotion within commun ities. Al-Shehri underscored the urgent necessity to safeguard civilians in Gaza and alleviate their suffering, advocating for the Palestinian people's legitimate rights. He reiterated the MWL's support for establishing an independent, sovereign Palestinian state based on the two-state solution and relevant international resolutions, viewing this as the only viable path to a just and lasting peace in the region.
