Music Commission Unveils Artist Residency Program 2026 to Foster Musical Innovation

Medina: The Music Commission: is set to launch the Artist Residency Program 2026, as part of its ongoing efforts to support contemporary musical practices and empower artists, musicians, and practitioners through an environment that encourages research, experimentation, and cultural exchange.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the program aims to create sustainable platforms that nurture musical talent and encourage collaboration between local and international artists, contributing to the growth of Saudi Arabia's music ecosystem and expanding its presence both locally and globally. The initiative aligns with the Music Commission's strategic objectives to advance the music sector, support innovation and artistic production, and strengthen Saudi cultural identity.

The program presents a series of residencies that bring together artists and practitioners in collaborative spaces for artistic production and creative development, alongside a public program featuring workshops, panel discussions, and open activities exploring music as a contemporary practice shaped by musical performance, cultural memory, and national identity.

The residency program explores eight core tracks, including classical and orchestral development, artistic innovation and sustainability, contemporary performance, songwriting, sound production, and Saudi and regional musical heritage, offering participants a dynamic environment for creative exchange and artistic growth.

The first residency will take place from June 21 until July 16, 2026, with applications opening from May 22 until June 15, 2026, and will be released through the Saudi Music Commission's social media accounts.
