Riyadh:The Museums Commission has unveiled a series of celebrations in honor of Saudi National Day, which will take place at the National Museum of Saudi Arabia in Riyadh, the Red Sea Museum, and the Tarek Abdulhakim Museum in Jeddah starting September 23. These events aim to engage families and visitors of all ages with the rich stories, traditions, and cultural expressions found within the Kingdom's museums.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the celebrations are inspired by this year's Saudi National Day theme, 'Our Pride in Our Nature,' and underscore the commission's vision of museums as dynamic spaces that not only display the Kingdom's history but also allow it to be experienced and shared. Each museum has tailored its program to reflect its unique identity. The National Museum will guide visitors through the narrative of the Kingdom's unification, the Red Sea Museum will offer a perspective through Jeddah and the Red Sea, and the Tarek Abdulhakim Museum will focus on music, learning, and creative experiences for families.
From September 23 to 26, the National Museum will offer an interactive journey through various stations revealing different aspects of the Kingdom's identity. The experience begins with a shadow-theater performance on King Abdulaziz's vision and the unification of the Kingdom, followed by stations dedicated to national historical figures, regional diversity, and cultural traditions. Live folk-art performances and activities for families, including interactive games, a sensory discovery wall for children, and a recording station for visitor messages, will also be featured.
On September 23, the Red Sea Museum in Jeddah will host all-day celebrations with activities such as face painting, coloring sessions, and guided tours. The museum will present 'A Nation's Story' with Saudi Sign Language interpretation, aligning with the International Day of Sign Languages, to engage Deaf children and people with disabilities in reflecting on national identity. The event will also launch Minaa Encounters, a platform for emerging Saudi photographers and artists, starting with 'Between Sea and Stone,' which highlights Jeddah's port through photography and will be on display until September 30.
The Tarek Abdulhakim Museum will hold musical workshops and interactive sessions from September 23 to 25, promoting Saudi Arabia's musical heritage. These workshops, scheduled from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily, encourage participation and discovery for visitors of all ages.
