Moringa Cultivation Expands in Hail

Hail: The moringa tree is gaining prominence for its environmental, nutritional, and economic value, thanks to its ability to withstand harsh climates, drought, and water scarcity, as well as its rapid growth and diverse uses. These qualities make it well-suited to desert and semi-desert environments. According to Saudi Press Agency, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association Cooperative for Moringa in Hail, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Obaida, stated that his experience cultivating moringa began more than 10 years ago. His 50,000-square-meter farm now hosts more than 30,000 trees, ranging from five to 14 meters in height and representing around 13 varieties, including Moringa peregrina and Moringa oleifera. He highlighted moringa's nutritional content, including vitamins, minerals, and proteins, as well as its applications in food, cosmetics, and traditional medicine. Moringa seeds are also used to produce oil, while its leaves, flowers, and green pods can be dried and processed into nutrient-rich powder. Al-Obaida noted that expanding moringa cultivation offers economic opportunities in dry regions, with leafy varieties showing particular promise in Hail due to favorable environmental conditions.
