Makkah: Thirteen centuries after its construction by Abbasid Caliph Abu Jafar Al-Mansur, the historic Al-Bayah Mosque in Mina, Makkah Region, is undergoing renovation and reconstruction. This project is part of the second phase of the Mohammed bin Salman Project for Developing Historic Mosques. The initiative focuses on enhancing the Kingdom's Islamic heritage and restoring the religious, cultural, and social functions of historic mosques by preserving them.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Al-Bayah Mosque was originally built in 144 AH (761-762 AD) near Jamarat Al-Aqaba in Mina. It stands on the historically significant site of Shab Al-Ansar, where the pledge that led to the migration of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) took place. The mosque is noted for its distinctive architectural elements that incorporate artistic and contextual values.

The Mohammed bin Salman Project is restoring Al-Bayah Mosque in the architectural style of the western region, preserving its original area of 457.56 square meters. The mosque will have the capacity to accommodate 68 worshippers at a time. The architectural style of the western region is known for its durability against natural conditions, with historical mosques serving as architectural masterpieces. These structures utilize materials like Manqabi bricks, gypsum, and wood, and are characterized by their simple yet refined facades.
