Tokyo: Minister of Justice Walid Al-Samaani met with Japan's Minister of Justice Keisuke Suzuki during his official visit to Japan. During the meeting, the two ministers discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations in the judicial field. Al-Samaani reviewed the recent developments in Saudi Arabia's judicial and legal sectors, supported by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and under the supervision of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. These developments include specialized legislative systems that contribute to achieving prompt and effective justice.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Al-Samaani highlighted key advancements in the justice sector, such as promoting transparency through audiovisual documentation of court sessions, both in courtrooms and during virtual hearings, and publishing judicial rulings. Additionally, he emphasized efforts to activate preventive justice by documenting contracts to serve as enforceable instruments.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the two ministers signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to cooperate in the judicial field. The MoU covers the exchange of expertise and information in legal and judicial areas, as well as cooperation in legislation, capacity building, and dispute resolution.
