Riyadh: Minister of Justice Walid Al-Samaani affirmed that recent legislative and procedural developments have strengthened the standing of arbitration and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, establishing them as effective and reliable options within the justice system. This came during his participation in the first panel discussion of the SCCA Fifth International Conference and Exhibition (SCCA26).
According to Saudi Press Agency, Al-Samaani explained that the integration of legal, judicial, financial, and commercial tracks has contributed to building a stable and reliable investment environment. He stressed that regulatory clarity and the effectiveness of the judicial system in supporting arbitration and enforcing its rulings, including the unification of enforcement jurisdiction, represent a key pillar in enhancing legal certainty.
He noted that the enforcement system for arbitration awards recorded a growth rate of 43% in 2025, with commercial arbitration accounting for 50% of this increase, reflecting the growing confidence of investors and the business sector in arbitration as a dispute resolution pathway.
The minister further emphasized that the Ministry of Justice is continuing to expand the implementation of the preventive justice system. He pointed out that more than one million electronic contracts have been documented, benefiting over 1.2 million users. This growth reflects rising demand for preventive justice tools and underscores the importance of further expanding their application to enhance contractual stability and support the business and investment environment.
