Bariq: The third Millet Festival launches today in Bariq Governorate, 120 km north of Abha, supervised by the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture in Aseer Region. Organized by the Agricultural Cooperative Association of Bariq, the event features participation from various government and private entities.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the festival emphasizes the economic importance of local crops by supporting farmers, empowering families working in the cottage industry, and enhancing agricultural value chains for millet. These initiatives aim to improve marketing efficiency, establish direct sales channels, and stimulate commercial activity.
Activities include stalls showcasing millet products and booths for agricultural stakeholders. The festival also features local farmers, awareness programs, and events that promote investment opportunities and the crop’s role in sustainable economic growth.
Millet, an ancient heritage crop in Bariq known for its adaptability and nutritional value, is receiving increased support from the ministry as a promising national product to enhance agricultural sustainability.
