Makkah: The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has activated the third phase of its operational plan for the 1446 AH Hajj season, focusing on monitoring and observing the atmosphere at the Jamarat Bridge area and the Grand Mosque. This initiative aims to support authorities involved in crowd management by providing accurate climate data, thereby enhancing public safety and preparedness.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the current phase involves an advanced monitoring network that includes automatic, fixed, and mobile stations covering 100% of the holy sites. These stations measure critical weather elements such as temperature, humidity, and wind speed, with data updates provided in real-time. The operations room in Mina is responsible for round-the-clock weather monitoring, working in coordination with relevant authorities. It utilizes modern technologies like satellite images, weather radars, and numerical models to issue periodic bulletins and recommendations, aiding decision-making processes on the ground.
The center is committed to ongoing collaboration with all operational and service agencies through an integrated work system. This aims to deliver highly accurate meteorological services that facilitate the performance of rituals and ensure the highest levels of reassurance for pilgrims visiting the House of God.
