Riyadh: The fourth Middle East Society of Therapeutic Radiation Oncology (MESTRO 2025) Congress, hosted by Alfaisal University, concluded yesterday with a set of recommendations aimed at strengthening regional collaboration and advancing radiotherapy technologies.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the recommendations included unifying efforts among cancer centers in the Kingdom and the Gulf states, establishing a unified Gulf registry for cancer patients, and enhancing scientific partnerships with specialized societies across the region and the Arab world. The participants also emphasized the importance of supporting the use of artificial intelligence and regulating its applications in radiotherapy diagnosis and treatment, as well as enabling wider scientific research in the field of cancer.
Scientific sessions during the conference reviewed developments in advanced particle therapy technologies, training models for treating childhood tumors, and the latest clinical approaches for cancers of the digestive system, prostate, and brain.
The conference concluded by highlighting the importance of sustained research and educational cooperation and their role in supporting the growth of radiotherapy and medical physics specialties across the region.
