UNWTO praises Egypt’s efforts in countering COVID-19

The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has lauded Egypt’s commitment to sticking to the global standards of health, safety and prevention to contain the novel coronavirus.

The organization on Wednesday praised in a tweet the initiative launched by the Tourism and Antiquities Ministry two days earlier through illuminating Khufu Pyramid at the Giza Plateau to send a message to the Egyptian people and the world to stay at home for their own safety from the COVID-19.

The UNWTO also asserted that Egypt is one of the main members of the organization working earnestly to support the tourism sector.

Tourism Minister Khaled Anani stated on Monday that Egypt is keen to send a message to its people and the world to stay at home and protect themselves and families.

He also sent a message of appreciation to “those protecting us and combating the pandemic.”

He wished the Egyptians and all people of the world to be always in good health.
