Egypt with DR Congo, Uganda, Zimbabwe in AFCON 2019

Egypt was drawn in Group A of the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The group also gathers DR Congo, Uganda and Zimbabwe

The draw was held Friday in Egypt’s Giza Pyramids Plateau.

Egypt was granted the tournament’s hosting rights in January after planned host Cameroon was forced to stand down due to lack of preparation.

Twenty-four teams for the first time in the history of the competition will take part, and will be divided into six groups.

It will take place from June 21 to July 13, having been moved from January/February to avoid club-versus-country clashes.

The Pharaohs are seeking to win the prestigious title for the first time since 2010, the last of their record seven victories.
