Masam Project Removes 3,166 Explosives from Yemeni Territory Last Week

Aden: The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) project, known as Masam, successfully removed 3,166 explosives from Yemeni territory during the first week of February. The operation included the clearance of 2,134 items of unexploded ordnance, 1,027 anti-tank mines, and five anti-personnel mines.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the project made significant progress across several governorates. In Aden Governorate, the Masam teams removed 254 items of unexploded ordnance and 200 anti-tank mines. Meanwhile, in Hodeidah Governorate, three anti-tank mines were removed in Hays District, and one item of unexploded ordnance was cleared from Al-Khawkhah District.

In Hadramout Governorate, a substantial number of explosives were removed, with 1,613 items of unexploded ordnance and 619 anti-tank mines cleared in Al-Mukalla District. In Hajjah Governorate, the teams removed 171 items of unexploded ordnance, 18 anti-tank mines, and two anti-personnel mines in Midi District.

Further clearance efforts in Lahj Governorate led to the removal of 12 items of unexploded ordnance and three anti-tank mines in Al-Mudharabah District, along with one item of unexploded ordnance in Tuban District. In Marib Governorate, one anti-tank mine was removed in Ragwan District, and 181 anti-tank mines were cleared from Marib District. Additionally, one item of unexploded ordnance was removed from Asaylan District in Shabwah Governorate.

In Taiz Governorate, the teams removed six items of unexploded ordnance and two anti-tank mines in Al-Mokha District, cleared 46 items of unexploded ordnance from Dhubab District, and removed 29 items of unexploded ordnance and three anti-personnel mines in Salou District.

The Masam Project has now removed a total of 540,671 explosives since its launch, targeting the indiscriminately planted mines across Yemeni territory. These efforts aim to protect innocent lives and alleviate fear among civilians.
