Riyadh: The Common Mallow (Malva sylvestris) is spreading notably across Northern Borders Region during spring, driven by improved climatic conditions and rainfall that have contributed to the growth of seasonal wild plants, creating a natural scene reflecting the vitality of vegetation cover and the renewal of the desert environment.



According to Saudi Press Agency, Common Mallow is a prevalent wild plant in the local environment, growing in sandy and loamy soil. It is distinguished by its broad green leaves and attractive purple flowers, and is valued by residents as an edible plant used in the preparation of several traditional dishes.



Environmental specialists confirmed that the spread of Common Mallow this season is a positive indicator of improved plant biodiversity in the region, stressing the importance of preserving wild plants and avoiding damage to them, as they constitute an important environmental and nutritional asset.
