General

Makkah: Makkah Municipality has finalized all preparations for the holy month of Ramadan, mobilizing its full resources to deliver optimal municipal services to residents and visitors amid the expected rise in pilgrim numbers.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the operational plan covers a wide range of services, including cleaning, waste collection and disposal, pest control, monitoring food establishments to ensure public health standards, and maintaining municipal facilities, infrastructure, road networks, tunnels, bridges, lighting, parking areas, public restrooms, parks, green spaces, and stormwater drainage systems, with continuous field monitoring.

Efforts will be intensified in high-density areas, particularly the central zone, commercial markets, and neighborhoods surrounding the Grand Mosque. The aim is to enhance food and water safety, manage increased waste volumes, strengthen market oversight, curb unregulated street vending, improve environmental sanitation, and ensure the proper operation of municipal facilities.

Preparations also included equipping parking facilities at city entrances used by pilgrims, preparing seasonal parking areas within Makkah, carrying out lighting, landscaping, cleaning, and paving works, and readying public restrooms and facilities across neighborhoods.

In addition, the municipality has developed a comprehensive emergency response plan to address seasonal incidents such as heavy rainfall or accidents. This plan is coordinated with central departments, sub-municipalities, and relevant government agencies, with 24/7 field presence.
