Makkah: The Holy Makkah Municipality has activated its operational plan for the last ten days of Ramadan as the number of visitors, worshippers, and Umrah pilgrims increases during this period.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the plan intensifies cleaning and environmental sanitation operations and strengthens monitoring of markets and municipal services. All human and mechanical resources have been mobilized to ensure high-quality services for visitors to the Grand Mosque.

The municipality has allocated 13,549 workers for cleaning operations, supported by more than 912 pieces of equipment and modern machinery. Specialized field teams carry out manual and mechanical sweeping in the central area around the Grand Mosque, on main roads, at vehicle holding areas at the entrances to Makkah, and in public squares.

Insect control programs have also been activated. More than 520 technicians and specialists are working on pest control projects using over 396 spraying devices and equipped vehicles as part of environmental sanitation efforts to protect public health.

The municipality reported that waste collected since the beginning of Ramadan has exceeded 126,365 tons.

Inspection teams are also conducting tours of markets and seasonal stalls across Makkah's neighborhoods to ensure compliance with health and regulatory standards. These inspections aim to enhance food safety and maintain environmental cleanliness.
