Makkah: On behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Makkah Region Deputy Governor Prince Saud bin Mishal bin Abdulaziz inaugurated the conference titled 'The Responsibility of Universities in Promoting Values and Intellectual Awareness,' organized by Umm Al-Qura University from August 25 to 27 at its Al-Abdiyah campus, in the presence of Minister of Education and Council of Universities Chairman Yousef Al-Benyan, along with several officials from relevant entities.
According to Saudi Press Agency, during the opening, Prince Saud launched the "Mustasharak" and "Waey" platforms, following the success of their pilot phases. The former aims to provide free, confidential remote consultations in educational, social, developmental, and psychological health fields, delivered by a select group of specialized and experienced faculty members. The latter is dedicated to receiving reports related to intellectual violations, extremist behaviors, or negative phenomena.
The conference aims to highlight the Kingdom's role in promoting human values and intellectual awareness, exchanging expertise, and organizing joint initiatives between Saudi universities and relevant sectors. It also seeks to underscore the role of universities in supporting social development institutions, propose solutions to contemporary challenges facing values and intellectual awareness, and outline a forward-looking vision for the responsibility of Saudi universities in this regard.
