Madinah: Al-Faqir Well, also known as Salman Al-Farsi Well, stands as a significant historical landmark in Madinah, located three kilometers southeast of the Prophet's Mosque. This archaeological site dates back to the pre-Islamic era and is famously associated with the emancipation of the companion Salman Al-Farsi. According to the Prophet's biography, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his companions helped Salman plant the required number of date palms to secure his freedom from his master.
According to Saudi Press Agency, beyond its religious importance, the site features a three-meter-wide well and an ancient irrigation network that showcases early agricultural and water management techniques. Recently, the location underwent comprehensive rehabilitation to transform it into a safe and accessible cultural attraction, ensuring the preservation of its heritage for future generations within Madinah's tourism landscape.
