Libyan Foreign Minister Najla Mangoush discussed, in a phone call on Saturday with Counselor of US Department of State Derek Chollet, situation in Niger and its consequences on the region.
According to the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two sides expressed their shared concern over consequences of the deteriorating security situation in Niger on the region, along with the anticipated negative impacts on security and stability of Libya due to the deteriorating security in Niger.
The US official affirmed the conformity of his country’s position with that of Libya in this direction, pointing out that US will send a clear message through the UN Security Council that it rejects any practices of seizing power by force and supports the democratic track, Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs added.
