CAIRO, The President of the Libyan Presidential Council Mohammad Al-Menfi warned Saturday against attempts to eradicate the Palestinian issue, stressing the importance of reviving the peace process to reach a just and final solution to the issue.
In his speech during the Cairo Peace Summit, Al-Menfi stressed the need for all countries to carry out their duties towards humanity and their common values, in order to preserve the credibility and ability of the international community and the success of international legitimacy in preserving the right to life of peoples under occupation.
He called for "immediately stopping military operations in Gaza and preventing the Israeli occupation from moving forward with its plans to invade the Strip and force its residents to forcibly move to the Sinai Peninsula or elsewhere, and to stop the repeated and systematic incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque and the rest of the Islamic and Christian lands in East Jerusalem and the rest of the occupied Palestinian territories." Al-Menfi pointed out the need to demonstrate everyone's commitment to the security of the region and the world by rejecting individual solutions, especially the plans that aim to force the residents of the Gaza Strip into forced displacement within the Strip or to Sinai.
Al-Menfi called for urgent arrangements to operate the Rafah crossing according to a sustainable mechanism that respects Egyptian sovereignty, to ensure the flow of vital aid to Gaza Strip, and to begin the reconstruction efforts.
The minister also called for the immediate start of balanced international sponsorship and Arab participation in the comprehensive settlement negotiations and the final status based on a two-state solution in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative and international legitimacy resolutions.
