Shukri from Meerab: presidential vacuum will end

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea met on Wednesday in Meerab with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri, accompanied by Ambassador Mohammad Zayed Badreddine.

In the wake of the meeting, Shukri said the Lebanese crisis and the presidential vacancy will end.

“We sensed among Lebanese parties the intention to resolve the crisis and reinstate stability,” he said after his discussion with the LF chief.

The Egyptian minister subsequently stressed that the role of Egypt was not connected to that of other countries. “We are working to address the challenges which we are suffering,” he said.

For his part, Geagea said Egypt played a very important and positive role on the Lebanese scene.

He also hoped the latter would recover its regional responsibility.
