Malawian president lauds Sisi’s efforts to promote joint African action

President of Malawi Peter Mutharika expressed his appreciation for efforts that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi exerts to push forward joint African action and defend political and economic independence of the African continent.

He asserted his full support for Egypt’s priorities during its presidency of the African Union (AU).

This came at a meeting held with Egyptian Ambassador to Malawi Hassan Shawqi on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony of Mutharika, who was re-elected for a second presidential term on May 31.

The Malawian president voiced his keenness on meeting with President Sisi as soon as possible to discuss means of consolidating bilateral relations at various political, economic and trade levels.

He lauded the capacity-building programs that Egypt offers to the Malawian cadres to help achieve economic and social development goals.

Meanwhile, Shawqi greeted the Malawian president on behalf of President Sisi, expressing Egypt’s keenness to promote and upgrade Egyptian-Malawian relations at all levels.
