Kuwait Min.: Empowering women “state priority”

Empowering women is one of the state’s utmost priority and “Dikakeen 2” — for small and medium size enterprises — is one of the events that require such support from authorities, said a government official on Wednesday.

Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs Sheikh Firas Saud Al-Malek Al-Sabah told KUNA on the sideline of Dikakeen 2 opening that the event was an important gesture to empower women in the country.

Sheikh Firas said that the initiative had evoked a sense of optimism especially after seeing all the products produced by participants.

On his part, acting undersecretary for Social Affairs Abdulaziz Al-Mutairi said that the ministry was keen support commodities produced by families, affirming that the ministry was willing to offer raw material for participants to provide their services to the masses.

He revealed that participants and clients of the Dikakeen 2 had reached around 96 families, noting that a similar event would be opened in Sabah Al-Ahmad area tomorrow.

Speaking to KUNA, Sara Al-Dousiri, head of family care department at the ministry, said that Dikakeen 2 was part of a series of events aimed at supporting beneficiaries of the ministry to become owners of businesses.

Those benefiting from the ministry’s support are trained to come up with business ideas and in turn have a chance to partake in events such as Dikakeen 2, she added.

On their parts, Salman Boland and Husa Al-Baloul, participants in the event, expressed their gratitude to the ministry’s support, saying that this gesture had enabled them to benefit themselves and others.

Dikakeen, which means shops, held its second event under the organization of the ministry’s family care department (Boutique 33). It would last until September 2.
