Riyadh: King Salman International Airport Development Company (KSIADC), a PIF-owned entity, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Biofuel Company to collaborate on the deployment of B100 biodiesel as a substitute for fossil diesel during the airport's construction phase.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Biofuel Company will support King Salman International Airport by providing alternative energy solutions through the use of B100 biodiesel in construction activities. This initiative aims to reduce the project's carbon footprint and emissions, aligning with Saudi Arabia's net-zero targets.
KSIADC Acting CEO Marco Mejia stated that the partnership is a concrete step towards building an airport adhering to sustainable standards, reflecting the company's commitment to integrating alternative energy solutions in line with global efforts to reduce emissions. Mejia emphasized the value of strategic collaborations to achieve sustainability goals and expressed eagerness to work with Biofuel Company on this initiative, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030.
Biofuel Company CEO Abdullah Al-Otaibi expressed pride in signing the memorandum with KSIADC, highlighting the partnership's role in advancing Vision 2030's sustainability goals and reducing reliance on fossil fuels in major projects.
Biofuel Company, based in Jubail, is a leading Saudi processor of animal fat and vegetable oil into high-performance biodiesel, serving both public and private sector clients across the Kingdom.
This memorandum underscores KSIADC's commitment to sustainability, minimal environmental impact, and optimized resource efficiency throughout the project's development phase.
