Tunis: Tunisian Minister of Health Mustapha Ferjani and a Saudi-Tunisian consortium have signed the kick-off contract for King Salman bin Abdulaziz University Hospital in Kairouan, Tunisia. The project is funded by the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) through a Saudi $85 million grant.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Saudi Ambassador to the Republic of Tunisia Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Saqr attended the signing ceremony, representing the Kingdom, alongside representatives of the consortium overseeing the project, which includes the Saudi Al-Qasabi and Tunisia's Bouzguenda firms.
During his remarks at the Tunisian Ministry of Public Health, Ferjani highlighted the significance of establishing the King Salman hospital in central Tunisia. He described the hospital as a development project that will advance effective health-sector reforms, strengthen public health services, and support efforts to rebuild the country's healthcare system.
Ferjani also noted the strong commitment of the leaderships of both countries to enhance bilateral cooperation, particularly in the health sector, through joint projects. He commended the support of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince.
The minister detailed the hospital's features, emphasizing its global standards in equipment, technology, and capacity. The hospital will cover a total area of around 69,000 square meters, with a capacity of 500 beds, expandable to 700 beds.
