Riyadh:King Khalid International Airport was targeted in two separate attacks on Thursday, October 8, 2026. The first attack was directed at the airport's facilities, and the second targeted a Saudia aircraft.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the attacks led to the martyrdom of three Saudi citizens and injured several others, including Saudi residents and individuals of various nationalities, with injuries ranging from minor to critical. The injured were promptly taken to hospitals for medical treatment.
Emergency response teams and relevant authorities acted immediately, following established protocols and emergency response plans. The attacks also resulted in some property damage at the airport.
The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) is working with the relevant authorities to assess the damage, ensure the safety of the facilities, and take necessary steps to protect passengers and personnel. GACA confirms that airport operations have resumed and air traffic has returned to normal.
