King Khalid International Airport Completes Major Terminal Relocation Project

General

Makkah: King Khalid International Airport: King Khalid International Airport, managed by Riyadh Airports Company, successfully completed a significant terminal relocation project from February 16 to 25. The project aims to optimize the airport's infrastructure by designating Terminals 1 and 2 for national carriers' international flights, Terminals 3 and 4 for their domestic flights, and Terminal 5 for international flights operated by foreign carriers.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Riyadh Airports Company CEO Ayman Aboabah credited the success of the project to a comprehensive operational plan. This plan involved over 650 field support teams and included free transport services such as the Riyadh Metro and shuttle buses. During the transition period, the airport managed to handle over 1.04 million passengers across 7,650 flights, maintaining full operational stability throughout the process.

The expansion project is set to significantly increase the total passenger capacity from 42 million in 2025 to 56 million by the end of 2026, marking a 33% growth. Additionally, it aims to enhance transit capacity to accommodate 7.5 million passengers annually. This initiative aligns with Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to establish the Kingdom as a global logistics hub.
