King Abdullah Medical Complex in Jeddah Saves Lives of Two Pilgrims from Heart Attacks

Jeddah: A medical team at the specialized heart center at the King Abdullah Medical Complex, a member of the Second Jeddah Health Cluster, successfully saved the lives of an Indian pilgrim in his forties and an Indonesian pilgrim in her fifties. Both experienced severe, unstable chest pain that nearly claimed their lives before performing Hajj upon their arrival at the pilgrims' lounge at the King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah. The medical teams at the health monitoring centers at the airport provided urgent healthcare and transported them as emergency cardiac cases by ambulance to the King Abdullah Medical Complex in Jeddah. As soon as the patients arrived at the complex's emergency and disaster department, the specialized cardiology catheterization team immediately attended to them, and all necessary medical examinations were conducted. Dr. Shatha Al-Alawi, head of the medical team and consultant in cardiac catheterization at the complex, said that the Indian pilgrim was diagnosed with a seve re heart attack and low blood circulation. Dr. Al-Alawi also noted that the Indonesian pilgrim was diagnosed with angina and elevated cardiac enzymes. The medical team decided to transfer her to the cardiac catheterization operating room for a diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac catheterization procedure, which was successfully completed.
