King Abdulaziz University’s ‘Green Spots’ Initiative Collects 15 Tons of Waste during Hajj Season

General

Jeddah: King Abdulaziz University (KAU), through its KAU Endowment and the Center of Excellence for Advanced Materials Research (CEAMR), successfully implemented the "Green Spots" initiative during this year's Hajj season. The campaign led to the collection of over 15 tons of waste, contributing to a cleaner environment for pilgrims and the preservation of natural resources.

According to Saudi Press Agency, approximately 300 waste-sorting containers were deployed, with the collected waste consisting of 95% plastic and 5% paper.

The initiative's success was made possible through key partnerships with CEAMR as the research partner, the Holy Makkah Municipality as the logistical partner, the National Center for Waste Management (MWAN) as the strategic partner, and a national company as the implementing partner.
