Makkah: The preliminary qualifiers for the 46th King Abdulaziz International Competition for Memorizing, Reciting and Interpreting the Holy Quran began today at the competition venue in Makkah. Organized by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, the qualifiers precede the final rounds, which will be held at the Grand Mosque.
According to Saudi Press Agency, during the preliminary qualifiers, judging panels listened to recitations by male and female contestants to determine those advancing to the final rounds, in accordance with the highest standards of accuracy and transparency and under the supervision of a group of international male and female judges specializing in Quranic readings and recitation rules.
The current edition brings together 334 male and female contestants representing 133 countries, competing in five categories: memorizing the entire Holy Quran according to seven recitations; memorizing the entire Holy Quran along with interpreting its vocabulary; memorizing the entire Holy Quran; memorizing 15 consecutive parts; and memorizing five consecutive parts.
The ministry continues to mobilize all its resources to ensure the success of this international Quran competition by implementing an electronic judging system and providing an integrated organizational environment that ensures fairness and accuracy in evaluating contestants, in addition to providing various services to participants.
The King Abdulaziz International Competition for Memorizing, Reciting and Interpreting the Holy Quran is one of the world's largest Quran competitions, with total prizes exceeding SAR10 million, reflecting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's continued commitment to serving the Holy Quran, encouraging its memorization, and promoting its global mission of spreading Quranic values and teachings.
